Come and Worship with Us!

Join us for coffee and fellowship following service

Sunday Service

We meet every Sunday morning at 10:00 am.  After service we gather to enjoy fellowship and a cup of coffee.

Sunday Morning Worship is what many would call “traditional”. The format changes week to week, but the basic elements stay the same:   there are readings from the Hebrew Scriptures, Gospels, and later Acts and Letters of the Apostles (also called Old and New Testaments).

We stand (as able) to sing four hymns.  We share in group prayers as well as quiet time for personal prayers. The music is traditional United Church of Canada music from the “Voices United” Hymn Book.

A voluntary offering is taken up and a sermon is preached in these services speaking to a modern audience about the real world.

There is a story for children and a special program for children that they go to together after the first 15 minutes of the service.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month and everyone is invited to share in Communion, which is a remembrance of the Last Supper when Jesus spoke intimately to his companions and, we believe, also to us.  Communion is celebrated with bread and grape juice (gluten-free wafers are also available).

Who are we

Tansley United Church was “planted” in 1986 to serve the thriving and growing community of north Burlington. We are a mix of young families, empty-nesters, singles and seniors.

Our Mission:   To be an enthusiastic, Christ-centred family, journeying in faith, looking in, reaching out.
Our Purpose:   To grow people of faith who participate in God’s work in the world.
Our Vision:      We believe that God is calling us to do serious leadership development work among lay members of our church in order for us to have a strong core of spiritually formed persons with leadership gifts, potential and experience.
We believe that God is calling us to make a shift from the mentality of paying dues/taking a collection to learning the deeper meaning of offering and stewardship as the spiritual practice of growing in generosity.
We believe that God has called us to deepen our practice of adult Christian faith formation in order to help both those who are new to this church and those who have been involved for some time to grow in their faith.
