Welcome to Worship at Tansley – You are invited!
Our services are at 10:00 am each Sunday. We also offer special services during special seasons of the Church Year.
Why worship? Worship is essential for a healthy life and a healthy outlook on life, as the saying goes, “we are what we worship.” If we worship things that are temporary instead of eternal, we will eventually be disappointed. On the other hand, to worship God is to receive the blessings of hope, life and love so that we may in return be grateful stewards of that gift to ourselves, to our families and to our communities.
Our rationale for worship can be summed up in the following story. A man once asked Jesus, “What do I have to do to receive those things that are eternal?” Jesus answered, Worship the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind, and do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” (Matthew 22: 37)
The man asked a question and received an answer. We too need to bring our questions to worship in order as we struggle to understand and live in an ever- increasing secular milieu.
During worship we offer praise and thanksgiving as we join the great quest of life. We hope you will join us along the journey of life. Following regular Worship please stay behind as we gather to enjoy fellowship and a cup of coffee. Tea and juice are also provided.
Sunday Morning Worship is what most would call “traditional”. The format changes week to week, but the basic elements remain the same.
There is a story for children and a special program for children that they go to together after the first 15 minutes of the service.
Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month and everyone is invited to the table to partake in the sacrament. We celebrate with bread and grape juice (gluten-free wafers are also available).
Again, hope you will join us in worship. You are welcome!
Who are we
Tansley United Church was “planted” in 1986 to serve the thriving and growing community of north Burlington. We are a mix of young families, empty-nesters, singles and seniors.
Our Mission: To be an enthusiastic, Christ-centred family, journeying in faith, looking in, reaching out.
Our Purpose: To grow people of faith who participate in God’s work in the world.
Our Vision: We believe that God is calling us to do serious leadership development work among lay members of our church in order for us to have a strong core of spiritually formed persons with leadership gifts, potential and experience.
We believe that God is calling us to make a shift from the mentality of paying dues/taking a collection to learning the deeper meaning of offering and stewardship as the spiritual practice of growing in generosity.
We believe that God has called us to deepen our practice of adult Christian faith formation in order to help both those who are new to this church and those who have been involved for some time to grow in their faith.
